British singer-songwriter and cellist Ayanna Witter-Johnson will deliver an exclusive session from her home as part of the Royal Albert Home series.
“Ayanna is a rare exception to the rule that classical and alternative R&B music cannot successfully coexist and was described by Time Out as someone who “has to be heard to be believed”.
Following a successful crowdfunding campaign, she released three EPs and her debut Album Road Runner in 2019, featuring artists including pianist Robert Mitchell and rapper Akala. It’s a concept album that pays tribute to her Jamaican roots, with an authentic urban grittiness against the backdrop of her incredible musicality.”
The Royal Albert Home shows will all be streamable free of charge, but with the option to make a donation. The Royal Albert Hall will turn 150 years old in 2021 and are closed for the first time since World War Two due to the coronavirus pandemic, meaning that they have no regular income to support their staff or our Grade I-listed building.
