Ways To Get Involved

Volunteer, donate, sponsor, fundraise or collaborate with us - you can make a difference

The Rural Coffee Caravan is what it is because of our amazing volunteers

With the incredible support of our passionate team of volunteers and village representatives, we work tirelessly to address the causes and symptoms of loneliness and rural isolation. From towing the caravan and serving refreshments to providing IT and PR support, their invaluable contributions help us make a positive impact throughout the county.

By supporting us, volunteers have the chance to develop skills, confidence, and employability, leading many to become community champions and catalysts of change within their villages.

We are constantly seeking new volunteers! If you're interested in making a positive impact, enhancing your skills, or fulfilling your dream of towing a caravan, a rewarding and enjoyable volunteering opportunity awaits you.

Volunteer with us

We are looking for:

  • Volunteer drivers - to tow the caravan in rural Suffolk villages from April to October (training provided, expenses covered, plus delicious cake!)
  • Volunteers to join our team on visits - to make tea/coffee; to listen to, and chat with, visitors (training given)
  • Landowners who would be happy to store the caravan overnight (to minimise our towing miles)
  • People to bake delicious homemade cakes for us (your expenses paid)
  • Volunteers to help with doorstep deliveries - distributing flyers and postcards

Our volunteers are:

tea and coffee pourers, cake bakers,
listeners and conversation makers,
washer-uppers, knitters, sewers,
caravan maintainers and towers,
noticeboard updaters, village coordinators,
poster and flyer distributors, pro-bono contributors,
event setter-uppers, table and chair ‘luggers’,
funding bid supporters, and ‘word of mouth’ forwarders,
social media sharers and so much more...

I volunteer with The Rural Coffee Caravan because I can use my professional skills in a volunteer role. Not only do I love towing 'Bill Bailey', but I get so much fulfilment from helping at a visit and seeing the difference The Rural Coffee Caravan makes to people's lives. Making connections with communities brings me so much joy.

Volunteering for the RCC “feeds my love of talking, tea and cake” - and meeting some wonderful people - with wonderful backgrounds that are not always immediately apparent. Never judge a book by its cover!

When I first got involved with the RCC I vaguely thought that I'd get more back than I put in - and that has proved to be the case in many different ways... I really enjoy working with people who are about as different as can be from those in my previous paid working life... If I roll "everything RCC" into one, I'd have to say that it is a massive positive in my life that goes a long way in offsetting some of the negative stuff that may be going on.

Just a quick email to thank you for a gentle induction to the extraordinary phenomenon that is The Rural Coffee Caravan this morning! It was a pleasure to meet you. I genuinely hadn't realised the depth/extent of the offer - it really is quite incredible - I take my hat off to you!! I am happy to help again as/when you feel I might be of use.
Caroline, RCC Volunteer
The Rural Coffee Caravan should be prescribed on the NHS. It's spirit lifting, they bring so much joy wherever they go.
