Support could be a phone call away
It’s estimated that over 5 million people of pension-age could be missing out on Attendance Allowance support, adding up to billions left unclaimed each year.
Are you or is someone you know of pension age and not claiming it?
Do you need help with the activities of daily living?
We’re urging you to check your eligibility! Help to apply is available!
Attendance Allowance is tax free, it’s not means tested; eligibility for it can open up a host of other support and benefits and you can even still be working or studying and receive it. There are 2 different ‘rates’ of Attendance Allowance – £72.65 or £108.55 a week and you can spend the money however you like.
Don’t be put off by the big application form, there’s help available to complete it!
At our Rural Coffee Caravan Village Visits, our community engagement team are always happy to help people to check their eligibility and support them in applying. Check our visit calendar here, or look at our map, to find your nearest visit.
Citizens Advice also offer free help with eligibility and applying, though you may have to book in and wait for an appointment. Find and chat to your local Citizens Advice here, and follow this link for more information about Attendance Allowance from them.
Another option, is a new service we’ve been introduced to, and are pleased to recommend, Kinly – helping people over age 66 to unlock the financial support that is available to them, starting with Attendance Allowance.
One of the founders of the service grew up in Suffolk and we met them many months ago when they joined us on a Village Visit whilst they were devising a service that could be of significant help to older people. Feedback that repeatedly turned up in their research was how intimidating the lengthy forms for benefits such as Attendance Allowance are.
They set to work employing a passionate and dedicated team of skilled benefits advisors and one 45 minute phone call with them can now have these 30 page forms turned around, delivered to you stamped and ready to sign and send off, within 48 hours.
If successful, the recipient will receive a backdated payment and though Kinly is a paid for service, it’s one that we trust. All the work they do up front is free and their one-off fee of £395 would come from that backdated payment, and ONLY in situations where applications are successful.
Further info can be found on the Kinly website, here.
The RCC doesn’t receive any payment for recommending any of the services we share news about, and there is no charge for our RCC Community Engagement team assisting people to apply. We are only committed to helping people find the ways which work for them, to improve lives and help people to stay independent in their own homes for longer.
Perhaps it worth grabbing a cuppa and maybe making a phone call to see if you might be eligible? You could be missing out on extra support to make life a little easier, and not realise it.
