SURVIVING WINTER APPEAL 2018

This weekend the Surviving Winter Appeal was launched by Suffolk Community Foundation, and the Rural Coffee Caravan and MeetUpMondays™ are glad to be helping to deliver the campaign, alongside other partner charities and businesses such as Age UK, Citizens Advice Bureau, Warm Home Healthy People, East of England Co-operative, EADT, Hopkins Homes, Ipswich Building Society and Ipswich Town Football Club.

The campaign asks those who can afford it to donate their Winter Fuel Payment to the appeal, or simply to make a donation, and the fund is then immediately redistributed to vulnerable people in Suffolk who might be struggling to pay their heating bills or heat their homes this winter.

You can read the full article about the launch here: EADT : Too many still have to choose between heating and eating – YOU can help.

You can donate to the campaign via the following methods:

  • online at www.suffolkcf.org.uk
  • by calling Suffolk Community Foundation on 01473 602602
  • in person at any branch of Ipswich Building Society

To receive help, simply visit any branch of Citizen’s Advice Bureau in Suffolk, or call 01473 298634.

310 people died in Suffolk last year from causes directly attributed to cold and poor living conditions during the winter months.

By pledging your Winter Fuel Payment or making a donation you will be saving lives and helping vulnerable people.

” We are so pleased to be part of the Surviving Winter campaign. It’s such an important appeal; no one should have to choose whether to heat or eat in this day and age but sadly too many have to. If you can donate all or some of your winter fuel payment then please, please do.
We urge all of our #MeetUpMondays hosts to advertise their sessions often and widely. MeetUpMondays sessions across the county offer friendly, warm, cosy occasions and make real a difference to folk who spend too much time alone. Winter can be such an awful, lonely time anyway, and excruciating if you are struggling to keep warm. MeetUpMondays is an important resource within this wonderful network – if you know anyone who might benefit from the actual and social warmth of a free weekly MeetUp you can find information on locations nearest to you here: MeetUpMondays – map. Everyone should help spread the word of this life saving appeal!! Thank you.”
